These readers provide great energy saving benefits by ensuring that the controlled circuit is only engaged when a card of the correct technology is put into the slot. The access card is inserted into the reader which then enables the integral relay which then in turn, controls the lights, power circuits and other equipment. When exiting the room, the card is removed from the slot and the power will be shut off after 15 seconds.
